Middlesex Centre Council held two meetings on March 20. In the afternoon, Council held a special informational meeting about the municipal Development Charges Study. Later in the evening, Council held their regularly scheduled meeting.

Development Charges Study Update

Peter Simcisko of Watson & Associates Economists Ltd., the project consultant, provided Council with an introductory overview to the Development Charges Study which is being undertaken by the municipality.

Development Charges (or DCs) are fees levied by municipalities to help cover the costs associated with infrastructure and services required due to new developments/growth. Under provincial legislation, municipalities must update their DC Study every five years.

A formal public meeting on the DC Study is scheduled for May 2024. The supporting DC Background Report will be posted to the project page on website in advance of the meeting.

In Brief

During the meeting, Council:

  • Received Middlesex Centre’s Budget to Actual Report for February 2024.
  • Received the findings from the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB) Accommodation Plan for information.
  • Approved the purchase of a new hydro vacuum in the amount of $232,572. This equipment is used when excavating to reduce the risk of damaging underground utilities.
