July 3, 2025, Ilderton - The Municipality of Middlesex Centre is pleased to announce a $1 million investment from the Province of Ontario for essential repairs and upgrades to the Ilderton Arena. The announcement was made by MPP Steve Pinsonneault, who joined municipal officials at the arena for the occasion.
The total cost of the arena renovations is $4 million, with provincial funding supporting a significant portion of this project.
“The Ilderton Arena is the heart of this village, and over the years has become a major community hub beyond hockey and skating,” said Mayor Aina DeViet. “This generous contribution paves the way for much-needed repairs and upgrades.”
With funding from the Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, the arena’s lifespan will be extended by 10 to 12 years. Renovations will focus on accessibility, energy efficiency, and improved safety for all users. The work is scheduled to be completed in time for the 2025 fall ice season, ensuring minimal disruption to community programming.
“These renovations will ensure that the Ilderton Arena remains a welcoming and functional venue for sports, recreation, and community events,” Mayor DeViet added.
Planned upgrades include a modern refrigeration plant with a heat recovery system, renovated lobby and dressing rooms, accessible washrooms, and new rink boards and glass designed for enhanced player safety.
“These renovations demonstrate our commitment to maintaining the Ilderton Arena as a vibrant, safe, and accessible space,” said Mayor DeViet. “On behalf of council and the municipality, I want to thank the Province of Ontario for supporting our shared vision of enhancing community spaces.”
