Additional Residential Units (ARUs) are smaller, independent units added to an existing residential property. Middlesex County is developing a catalogue of free, pre-reviewed designs to make it easier for homeowners to add an ARU to their property.
Six draft designs are ready, and they are looking for your feedback
The designs are part of a new Build Ready Housing Design Program intended to make it easier and more affordable for property owners to add housing by providing access to pre-reviewed building designs.
Residents, builders and members of the agricultural community are invited to review the designs and complete the survey by Nov. 27, 2026. Feedback will help shape the final design catalogue.
