Middlesex Centre is sharing a warning about fraudulent emails requesting additional payments or fees related to planning applications and appeals (Ontario Land Tribunal, OLT).
While we are not aware of this scam occurring in Middlesex Centre, residents, applicants and others involved in the planning process are encouraged to be cautious if they receive an unexpected request for payment or financial information.
Middlesex Centre only requests a fee when an OLT application is submitted. We will not contact parties to request additional fees or funds as part of the application process.
If you receive a suspicious email:
- Do not send payment or provide financial or personal information.
- Do not reply or click links or attachments.
- Contact the municipality or agency involved to confirm whether the request is legitimate.
- Report suspected fraud to the OPP or the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
