Presentations

Brian Petrie, Chair of the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority, gave a presentation regarding the Ontario government’s consolidation of conservation authorities. With new revisions to the Conservation Authorities Act, the Essex Region, Lower Thames Valley, St. Clair Region, and Upper Thames River conservation authorities will be consolidated into the newly formed Western Lake Erie Regional Conservation Authority (WLERCA) in early 2027.

Council Business

During the meeting, Council: 

  • Received the 2025 Treasurer’s Statement on Development Charges.
  • Received the budget to actual for April 2026.
  • Received a petition for drainage works for the McIntyre-Gysbers Municipal Drain submitted by landowners. Council directed staff to notify the affected landowners and appropriate agencies of the decision to proceed with the work.
  • Received information regarding the Ontario Government’s Bill 98, Building Homes and Improving Transit Act. The legislation forms part of a broader provincial housing and infrastructure strategy aimed at accelerating residential construction, reducing development costs, standardizing planning processes, and improving transportation integration across Ontario.
  • Adopted the Servicing Allocation Policy. This policy ensures that remaining and future reserve servicing capacity (water and wastewater) is managed, planned, and allocated in a sustainable and transparent manner.
