Council Business
- Received the Budget 2026 Survey, which received 315 responses. Of note, 82% of respondents thought the municipal services they received were fair, good, or excellent. The survey and information from the survey will be incorporated in the creation of the 2026 budget.
- Received the budget to actual report for July 2025.
- Approved the tender award for the supply of aeration blowers for the Komoka Wastewater Treatment Facility to APG-Neuros in the amount of $172,445 (including the non-refundable portion of HST). Aeration blowers are an important part of the wastewater treatment process, promoting growth of the microbes that break down waste.
- Approved the tender award for the Glendon Drive watermain twinning project to ASG Excavating Ltd. in the amount of $846,782 (including the non-refundable portion of HST). This project will see the Glendon Drive watermain twinned to increase supply capacity and create a back-up feed to Kilworth. The municipality secured a Housing-Enabling Water System Fund (HEWSF) grant from the Province of Ontario that is offsetting $492,715 of the project cost.
- Received the annual inspections for the Middlesex Centre, Birr, and Melrose drinking water systems. Under the Safe Drinking Water Act, the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) annually inspect municipal drinking water systems. Inspections cover operational and process details as well as the system condition and maintenance practices.
- Extended a rental agreement with the Ice Academy of Montreal – London Campus that will see the group continue to offer international-level training and coaching services to ice dancers and figure skaters at the Komoka Wellness Centre for the next three years.
- Adopted a revised and updated Delegated Authority By-law. This by-law allows municipal staff to make routine decisions without needing council approval, streamlining day-to-day operations.
- Granted pre-budget approval for a two percent cost of living increase for employee wages effective January 1, 2026.
- Granted pre-budget approval of $135,175 to hire a temporary position to support the planning, selecting, and implementation of new municipal financial software.
- Endorsed a new Volunteer Recognition Program that will honour individuals and community organizations whose efforts have significantly enhanced the quality of life in Middlesex Centre.
