About the Project
The Komoka Community Centre will be temporarily closed for renovations from September 1 to 19, 2025.
During this time, we’ll be adding a new universally accessible washroom to enhance accessibility for all users. We’re also replacing the flooring in the main hall with a sport-friendly surface that better supports recreational activities. Additional upgrades include:
- Updated basketball backboards, rims, and nets
- New volleyball posts and nets
- Enhanced storage systems
These improvements are designed to increase safety, accessibility, and the overall experience for everyone who uses the facility.
Later in the fall, we’ll be refreshing the existing men’s and women’s washrooms. The availability of the new universal washroom will allow us to complete these updates with minimal disruption and no impact on programming.
Funding
Although scheduled together to reduce disruption, the universal washroom and flooring renovations are separate projects.
Funding is provided by the Government of Ontario and the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
- Washroom Improvements: A $96,400 OTF Capital Grant will support the construction of a new universal washroom, enhancing accessibility and inclusion for older adults and individuals with disabilities.
- Facilities and Flooring Upgrades: A $100,700 OTF Capital Grant will be used to replace the main hall flooring, basketball nets, volleyball equipment, and storage systems, improving accessibility for all users.
