Today, Middlesex Centre Fire Services received a donation of pet oxygen masks from the Ilderton Pet Hospital, in partnership with Invisible Fence.
“We would like to thank Ilderton Pet Hospital and Invisible Fence for this generous donation,” said Middlesex Centre Fire Chief Colin Toth. “This is another important tool in our toolbox, allowing our firefighters to help pets that may need oxygen due to an emergency.”
The donation comes on the heels of the Ilderton Pet Hospital’s recent 20th anniversary celebration of providing service and care to animals in Middlesex Centre.
As it is Emergency Preparedness Week across Canada, Fire Chief Toth took the opportunity to highlight the importance of being prepared to support all family members – including pets – during an emergency. “We encourage residents to understand the risks of hazards in our community, such as extreme temperatures and severe storms, make a plan and prepare an emergency kit.”
Emergency Preparedness Week runs from May 4 – 10 and encourages Canadians to be better prepared to protect themselves and their families during emergencies. Emergency Preparedness Week also urges Canadians who have livestock, pets or service animals to include them in their emergency preparedness plans.
