About the Plan
Working together for safer, stronger, and more connected communities
The Middlesex Community Safety and Well-Being Plan is a joint initiative of Middlesex County and its eight local municipalities, with support from community and institutional partners.
The Plan provides a shared approach to improving safety, well-being and quality of life across Middlesex County. It recognizes that community well-being is connected to many factors, including housing, mental health and addictions, access to services, child and family well-being, violence prevention and economic security.
Priority Areas
The 2026–2031 plan identifies six interconnected priority areas based on local data, community engagement, municipal plans and initiatives, and input from partners.
Each priority area is considered through a rural lens, recognizing the unique challenges and opportunities of rural communities. The plan also considers equity, accessibility and cultural safety, with a focus on access, dignity, trust and belonging.
The six priority areas are:
- Housing stability and homelessness - Prevent housing insecurity and improve connections to housing and supports.
- Child, youth and family well-being - Support children and families through prevention, services and positive opportunities.
- Access to services and mobility - Reduce barriers to essential services, transportation and community-based supports.
- Economic well-being - Improve access to employment, training, income and basic needs supports.
- Mental health and addictions - Improve access to prevention, treatment, crisis response and coordinated supports.
- Violence prevention - Prevent violence and strengthen supports for victims, families and communities.
More about the goals and objectives for each priority area is available in the full Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.
