What is the purpose of this meeting?
This meeting will introduce the Official Plan Review project and provide an overview of themes, guiding principles, direction, and potential revisions. These revisions aim to align our Official Plan with new provincial policy direction as well as the County of Middlesex Official Plan. The meeting is also an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to share input on issues or themes that should be considered during the review.
What is an Official Plan?
The Official Plan is a key document that outlines the municipality’s long-term vision for growth and development. It includes population and housing forecasts, provides policy direction for how land should be used, identifies areas for development, as well as areas for agriculture and natural heritage.
Why are we reviewing the Official Plan now?
New policies in the Provincial Planning Statement came into effect on October 20, 2024, introducing significant changes to how municipalities must plan for growth and development. Although the Municipality completed an Official Plan Review in 2023 (currently before the Ontario Land Tribunal), we must now ensure our policies align with these new provincial requirements.
Ways to Participate in the Review
- Attend the meeting in-person at the Municipal Office.
- Attend the meeting virtually. You must register with the Office of the Clerk at least 3 hours in advance to participate via Zoom.
- Note: If you wish to speak at the meeting, we encourage you to register with the Office of the Clerk by 4:30 p.m. on January 26. Include your name, address, and any speaking notes when registering.
- Watch online on Middlesex Centre's YouTube channel.
- Submit comments at any time prior to the meeting via post or email to planning@middlesexcentre.ca.
