Mayor DeViet announced that the Government of Ontario has launched the 2023 Excellence in Agriculture program to recognize agricultural excellence in various categories. Mayor DeViet congratulated Stanton Farms of Ilderton for being nominated for this award based on their achievements in genetics and sustainability.
The Mayor also reminded residents that the municipal office is temporarily relocating to the Komoka Wellness Centre as of October 3, 2023, as the Coldstream office will be closed for renovation.
In Brief
During the meeting, Council also:
- Received the budget to actual report for August 2023.
- Received information regarding the Municipal Winter Sand Sale, and authorized staff to proceed with the sale.
- Received an update on the Komoka Drainage Works – Union Ave Branch.
- Approved new rates for Council remuneration as follows: Mayor: $37,544.92, Deputy Mayor: $29,649.42: and Ward Councillors: $25,703.43. These rates will be effective as of Jan. 1, 2024.
- Approved the continued use of two municipal vehicles that had previously been identified for disposition.
- Met in closed session to discuss matters related to an Ontario Land Tribunal case in Ward 2. Questions related to closed session meetings may be directed to the Municipal Clerk.
Planning Matters
Sitting as the Committee of Adjustment and then in public meeting, Council received and reviewed various planning applications.
Next Council Meeting
The next regularly scheduled Middlesex Centre Council Meeting is set for Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. Please note that council meetings will be held at the Ilderton Community Centre for the duration of the municipal office renovation.
