Melrose Drinking Water System Interconnect Project
The Melrose Interconnect is a $4 million project that is addressing long-term water servicing in the Wynfield Gate Community by connecting the Melrose Water Treatment Plant to the regional water supply.
As part of the funding considerations for this project, staff presented an option to introduce a per-property fee of up to $10,000 for Melrose residents. Council received a report outlining this option in June, and staff held a public meeting with residents in early September.
At this meeting, Council received a report on the outcome from the public meeting and further details on imposition of a fee. Council opted to NOT impose a fee on residents with respect to the Melrose Water Interconnect Project.
Proposed Bridle Path Subdivision, Arva
The council meeting included a public planning meeting with regards to a proposed subdivision in Arva. The 23.9-hectare (50 acre) proposed would be located on both the north and south sides of Medway Road (CR 28) west of Richmond Street (Highway 4), within the Arva Settlement Area.
Several members of the public spoke at the meeting, raising their concerns about the development. Council members also raised concerns for the developer to consider.
The comments received from Council and the public will be reviewed to refine the development proposal. The application will then be brought back to Council at a future meeting.
