
Mayor DeViet welcomed everyone back to Coldstream, as May 7 marked the first council meeting in the newly renovated municipal office and council chambers.
During the meeting, Council:
- Sitting as the Court of Revision, approved the schedule of assessment for the Pattyn Municipal Drain.
- Received an update on the Province’s Protect Ontario Through Free Trade Within Canada Act. This legislation will, if passed, support free trade and labour mobility within Canada.
- Received the Independent Electricity System Operator’s (IESO) 2025 Annual Planning Outlook, which provides an overview of the province’s electricity demand needs and future growth forecasts.
- Heard that Middlesex Centre Fire Services received a generous donation of pet oxygen masks from Invisible Fence and the Ilderton Pet Hospital. The new masks will enhance emergency response capabilities, helping to safeguard the wellbeing of pets in our communities during fire emergencies.
- Authorized the renewal of a lease agreement with London Police Services which allows them to use the Sunningdale Sang Pit for training purposes when not required for municipal use.
- Approved Community Improvement Plan (CIP) funding totaling $16,218 for four local businesses:
- 124 Birr Inc (Car and Truck Coin Wash, Ilderton), Façade and Signage Improvement
- Hickory Ridge Golf Course, Façade and Signage Improvement
- Rolling Ridge Maple Products, Energy Efficiency and Retrofit
- Stewart Overhead Door, Accessibility Retrofit
The grants will support improvements to façades and signage, energy efficiency and accessibility, with a total project value of $33,395. Please see the CIP webpage for more details about the CIP grants for 2025.
- Directed staff to move forward with updating the existing equipment at the Bryanston School Playground, to improve safety and extend its lifespan. The cost of this project is estimated at $27,800.
- Adopted an updated Asset Management Strategy, which supports the Asset Management Policy approved by Council in March.
- Awarded the contract to develop the municipality’s Active Transportation Plan to Arcadis in the amount of $144,441.
