Council Business

During the meeting, Council:

  • Directed staff to create a new reserve fund to support future improvements for gravel roads.
  • Received an update on the key organizational goals for 2026: Election 2026, Organizational Efficiency and Customer Service, Growth and Development, and Completion of the 2021-2026 Strategic Plan. These overarching goals are in addition to capital projects and other items captured in the Budget and department workplans.
  • Approved changes to Middlesex Centre’s staffing complement and structure, transitioning an operator position to a supervisor position and adding an on-call rotation in the Environmental Services team and adding a full-time position in the Finance Department later in 2026.
  • Received the budget to actual report for February 2026.
  • Awarded the purchase of a John Deere 772P grader to Brandt in the amount of $658,383 (including municipal portion of HST). This purchase was approved in the 2026 Budget.
  • Authorized an amendment to the 2026 Budget to add a new capital project for wash bay gates at the Denfield and Delaware operation centres at a cost of $100,000 (including non-refundable portion of HST), with the funds to be drawn from the Building and Facilities Reserve Fund.
  • Received information regarding the consolidation of Conservation Authorities (CAs) in Ontario. Under the new framework, Middlesex Centre will be within the jurisdiction of three new Regional CAs: Western Lake Erie Regional CA, Eastern Lake Erie Regional CA, and Lake Huron Regional CA.

Planning Matters

Sitting in public meeting and later as part of the regular meeting, Council received an application for a severance and zoning by-law amendment related to 96 Harris Road and recommended the proposed changes to the draft plan of subdivision for Edgewater Estates.
