Mayor DeViet opened the meeting by thanking staff member Kristen Sybers for her role as chair of the organizing committee for the Ilderton 150 celebrations held July 10 to 12. Kristen helped guide the planning process, coordinated on-site activities, and oversaw countless details to ensure the weekend’s success.
The Mayor also shared news about an extraordinary donation made at the Ilderton 150 event. Fifty Ilderton and area community organizations shared a landmark $1 million donation. Minor sports and youth organizations, fire associations, churches, cemeteries, and many other groups each received $20,000 to support their programs and activities. The donations were made by longtime local resident Glenn Powell, who wanted to give back to the community that has played such an important role in his life. The Mayor thanked Glenn for his meaningful contribution.
These welcoming remarks were followed by a presentation from Strathroy Hospice, who shared details of their plan for a hospice facility serving Middlesex County.
